A total of 48 persons hospitalized with influenza-associated illness have been reported to date: 5 Type A (H3N2), 2 Type A (2009 H1N1) 24 Type A unspecified, and 17 Type B.

The percentage of outpatient visits with influenza-like illness (% ILI) has remained below 0.3% during the past four weeks. The percent ILI has remained below 2% during the entire 2011-2012 influenza season.

The number of statewide pneumonia admissions has remained below 350 pneumonia admissions during the past seven weeks after exceeding 350 pneumonia admissions during the previous two weeks. This current level of pneumonia admissions represents approximately 3.5% of the total statewide hospital admissions.

A total of 270 persons hospitalized with influenza-associated illness have been reported to date: 49 Type A (H3N2), 14 Type A (2009 H1N1), 168 Type A unspecified, and 39 Type B.

A total of 1,083 positive influenza test reports were identified in individuals residing in all 8 of Connecticut counties including: New Haven (345), Fairfield (336), Hartford (256), Middlesex (41), New London (35), Litchfield (32), Tolland (21), and Windham (17). These 1,083 positive influenza reports include: 177 Type A (H3N2), 95 Type A (2009 H1N1), 586 Type A (subtype unspecified), 148 influenza B viruses, and 77 of unknown type.

This will be the last posted weekly update of the 2011-2012 influenza season. A more detailed influenza season summary will be posted later in the summer that will include information on the sporadic influenza activity that is still continuing in Connecticut.
