GUIYANG, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Another human H7N9 avian flu case has been reported in southwest China's Guizhou Province, health authorities said Monday.
A 52-year-old man was diagnosed with pneumonia before testing positive for the H7N9 virus on Sunday, said a statement issued by the provincial health and family planning commission.
The man, a native of Pingtang County in Bouyei-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Qiannan, is a poultry vendor, according to the statement.
He is now receiving treatment in a hospital.
It is the second human H7N9 case reported in the province over the past 10 days.
A 49-year-old woman, also involved in the poultry trade in Qiannan's Sui Autonomous County of Sandu, was confirmed to be infected with H7N9 virus on Dec. 31, 2016.

CHP closely monitors human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Guizhou

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (January 10) closely monitoring an additional human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Guizhou, and again urged the public to maintain strict personal, food and environmental hygiene both locally and during travel.

According to the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guizhou Province, the patient aged 52 from Qiannan was involved in poultry selling before onset and has been hospitalised.

"While local surveillance, prevention and control measures are in place, we will remain vigilant and work closely with the World Health Organization and relevant health authorities to monitor the latest developments," a spokesman for the CHP said.
