[h=1]WHO China Coronavirus Visit Won't Include Hubei and Wuhan[/h]
Posted on February 17, 2020

China has finally agreed to allow experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) into China to get a closer look at the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Unfortunately, the WHO experts are not being allowed into the Hubei province, which is where the largest number of cases can be found.

The large city of Wuhan in Hubei is considered to be the epicenter of the outbreak. The outbreak was initially linked to a seafood market in Hubei. By not allowing the WHO to visit the epicenter it will limit the information they can obtain and add fuel to bioweapon conspiracy theories.

An article on China's Global Times website says Hubei is too busy combating the virus to receive the experts. The article says, "The epidemic-stricken Hubei is not..

Today, we have sorted out another wave of rumors about the new crown pneumonia epidemic. We must keep our eyes wide open and pay attention to distinguishing.

Vulcan Mountain Hospital was blown away by the wind? Still leaking?

Rumors: From the evening of February 14th to 15th, Wuhan experienced extreme rain and snow, and the news that "Vulcan Mountain Hospital was blown away by wind last night" began to be circulated on the Internet. There was also a video of a serious leak from Vulcan Mountain Hospital.

Truth: Wuhan Urban and Rural Construction Bureau ’s WeChat Public Account issued a response on the 15th, stating that after verification, the water leakage did not occur at Vulcan Mountain Hospital, but at a ward that has not yet been delivered to Lei Shenshan Hospital. At present, the construction unit is stepping up maintenance and rectification.

Another netizen also called Vulcan Mountain Hospital "patients are being diverted." In response, the client reporter of the People's Daily contacted the person in charge of the Vulcan Mountain Hospital, who said that the online video was not the Vulcan Mountain Hospital, and said that there was no problem of patient triage through the network.

Rumors: Recently, there are rumors that Hubei-made rice may contain a new type of coronavirus and cannot eat Hubei-made rice.

The truth: Rice is not the host of the virus. Even if a virus falls on it, it cannot replicate and multiply, and can only lose vitality during storage.

Is the new coronavirus "artificial"?

Rumor: Two weeks ago, Indian researchers published a genetics paper claiming that unusual insertions were found in the virus (spike protein) that affects China, some similar to HIV. The article argues that these mutations cannot occur naturally, but are artificially inserted in the laboratory. The paper was subsequently withdrawn by the Archives of Biological Papers.

The truth: British media reported that scientists said there was no evidence that the new coronavirus found in China was made by humans. They lashed out at the "bad" research that sent that hint.

"You look at it and know that there is no evidence of genetic engineering at all. (Viral) Mutation is in full compliance with the laws of natural evolution. "

Truth: According to the official blog of Qingshan District Government of Xiaogan City, Hubei, @ 青山 政务, on the evening of February 16th, there was an online rumor that "eight new crown patients escaped from the hospital in Qingshan", which was verified by the new crown epidemic prevention and control headquarters in Qingshan District. It is a rumor. The general public is not allowed to believe or spread the rumor.

Rumors: An infant from Xuancheng, Anhui, was confirmed online as a confirmed case of neo-pneumococcal pneumonia in Shanghai, but there were no Anhui cases among the cases released in Shanghai.

Truth: @ 健康 上海 12320 released the news on the 15th that after being checked by the Shanghai Municipal Health and Health Commission Notification Committee, the case was found when it entered Shanghai through the Qingpu crossing and was admitted directly to the hospital and confirmed. Because it is a permanent resident of Shanghai, Jiading has been included in the information released on the 13th.

Rumor: Recently, during the epidemic, the news that Hubei Charity Federation received 150 sets of protective clothing for personal use was widely spread.

Truth: Hubei Provincial Charity Federation personally cleared the rumor: The material was donated to the Association by the Istanbul Chinese Enterprises Association, and the Association has in accordance with its intention of donation on the same day, all transferred to the Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. I will provide a material receipt.

Rumors: There are recent rumors that personnel returning from other provinces (cities) to Zhuzhou require forcible isolation at the hotel for 14 days and need to pay 299 yuan / day by themselves.

Truth: The office of the New Crown Pneumonia Prevention and Control Group in Hetang District, Zhuzhou City hereby explains that to date, all the personnel who have been centrally isolated as required by Hetang District have been borne by the district government. Notice. At present, no individual has paid for centralized quarantine and nucleic acid testing.

Rumor: The main manifestations of pneumococcal infection with neocoronavirus are fever, fatigue, and dry cough, so fever is infected with neocoronavirus.

Truth: Fever does not necessarily mean infection with the new crown virus. If you have not been exposed to a suspected source of infection, you can follow up at home with a short-term (less than 3 days) mild fever.

Rumor: Recently, there is such a saying on the Internet: loved ones, stop wearing invisible eyes, it will increase the chance of contracting the new crown virus. Recently, even Weishang has started selling frames.

Truth: There is currently no evidence that contact lenses increase the risk of new crown pneumonia infection. As far as is currently known, the main route of transmission of neocoronary pneumonia is droplet transmission and contact transmission.

Rumor: Recently, a WeChat group of Internet users in Jilin City rumored that there was a female college student from Wuhan coming back from Longtan Street to hide their situation. He had fever on January 26 and repeatedly used other people's ID cards to go to the hospital. He is now isolated in a chemical hospital.

Truth: "Today in the hospital, I saw someone reposting false rumors on WeChat. My friends and classmates in Jilin received the news in different groups. Now it has seriously affected the lives of my family, my boyfriend and his family. "

A netizen named "Cutter Cutting" said that she was the party mentioned in this rumor. She was a second-year graduate student of Wuhan University and was named Cheng Jiaqi. She returned to Jilin City on January 23 and had a low fever on the 26th. She went to the Jilin Central Hospital for treatment.

After examination, pneumonia was ruled out. She went to the chemical hospital for a low fever three days ago. The doctor kept her in Wuhan for observation because she had a history of living in Wuhan. Both nucleic acid tests were negative during this period, and the CT and blood routine tests of both lung films were normal.

Rumor: On the 15th, a message was circulating on the Internet: "The First Hospital of Wuhan City was requisitioned as a whole, and more than 1,600 people in ten medical teams in six provinces have been stationed. The vegetable rice in the hospital cafeteria is not enough. Please donate rice noodles, oil, vegetables, poultry and eggs ... "

Truth: Officials from Wuhan First Hospital rumored that the news was untrue. At present, the hospital's reception coordination work is carried out in an orderly manner, and the daily dietary supplies required by medical staff are not in short supply. If there is demand, the hospital will announce it in a timely manner through the hospital's official website and official micro platforms.

Rumors: On February 16th, netizens released the news that the girl who "chased the funeral car and cried to her mother" died.

Truth: At about 10 pm on February 2nd, in front of the emergency department building of Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, a video of a little girl "chasing a funeral car and crying to her mother" caused a lot of retweets on the Internet. It is reported that the girl's mother was a highly suspected case of neonatal pneumonia. She felt uncomfortable and went to the hospital that day. She died after rescue.

A person familiar with the matter told the Beijing News reporter that she had contacted the girl on the 16th, and she was in a good condition and was separated from her father's home. Please don't make rumors! Don't believe it! Don't rumor!

Rumor: Recently, in order to prevent virus invasion, some communities have set up disinfection houses and disinfection channels spraying disinfectant from top to bottom. They must be disinfected in a "shower" mode when entering the community. Many people worry that such disinfection methods will affect the underground Water quality.

The truth: Water quality professionals say that this "shower-style" disinfection will not affect water quality, so don't worry. At the same time, at the press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council held on the afternoon of February 13, Zhang Liubo, chief expert of disinfection at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, stated that "This kind of measure is unnecessary and does not cut off the way of transmission, and This approach is harmful because it is potentially harmful to the health of passing personnel and this should be avoided. "
The person in charge of water quality of Guangzhou Water Supply Company said: The main component of the chlorine-containing disinfectant is sodium hypochlorite, which is extremely unstable in chemical properties. In theory, when sodium hypochlorite is used in environmental disinfection, it is easily decomposed and it is unlikely to enter the water body. The current water quality in Guangzhou's water source area has not been polluted by residual chlorine caused by epidemic prevention and control.

Rumor: If you want to go out, wear anti-static clothing for better protection.

The truth: The materials in antistatic clothing include polymer fibers with antistatic effects, inorganic fibers (such as metal fibers, carbon fibers, etc.), and antistatic agents. Their main function is to prevent static electricity from accumulating on clothing. This is completely different from the medical protective clothing material used to isolate the new crown virus.

The material of medical protective clothing is mainly spunbond, meltblown, spunlace non-woven fabric, and the aperture is small, no matter it is bacteria, virus, or water, blood, alcohol and other liquids are difficult to penetrate. Many anti-static clothes have large apertures, which is no different from ordinary coats in protecting against new crown virus.

In the context of the current shortage of medical protective clothing, it is recommended that medical protective clothing be left to medical or high-risk staff. In some public places where no cases are found, one-piece raincoats or windproof and waterproof jackets can be used.

Rumors: Recently, it has been reported that indoor incense and agarwood can sterilize and detoxify and prevent new coronavirus.

Truth: Agarwood is a dry woody oily part of the white woody incense of the araceae plant. It is a kind of wood, spice, and Chinese medicine.

In vitro experiments, Agarwood has certain inhibitory effects on bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and molds such as Penicillium and Aspergillus niger. However, no publicly available literature has been found to confirm that Agarwood can inhibit human coronavirus, and the existing data do not support "Agarwood can prevent new coronavirus".

Rumor: On the evening of February 15th, a picture named "Report on School Arrangements during School Epidemic Prevention and Control (Discussion Draft of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Committee)" was circulated among parents.

Truth: The relevant person in charge of the Hangzhou Education Bureau stated that the Zhejiang Provincial Government had not issued any relevant announcements on February 6, and this document was not a discussion draft of Hangzhou's school start arrangements.

According to the deployment of the Provincial Department of Education, the office of the Leading Group for Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control of New Coronavirus Infection of the City agreed that the major primary and secondary schools (kindergartens) in Hangzhou will not start school before the end of February. The agency's unified deployment is determined, and once it is determined, it will be announced to the public in advance.

Rumors: Recently, a video of a vicious case of Taiping Liangshui, Tongliang District, Chongqing, where an epidemic prevention staff member was hacked to death by a villager who broke through the post has been circulating on the Internet.

Truth: The official Weibo of Tongliang District Public Security Bureau issued a circular on the evening of the 14th, stating that the news on the Internet was a rumor.

The report stated that after the police verified that the online video content was a murder case on February 5th in the province, there was no vicious online transmission case in Taiping Town, Tongliang District.

Rumor: Recently, a news about "10 people in the Jinyao Garden Family of Yaohua Street, Qixia District, Nanjing were tested positive" has spread widely.

Truth: The Qixia District Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted an investigation at the first time. After investigation, the above-mentioned online news was not true.

As of February 15, only one resident of Jinyao Garden District was diagnosed with the new type of coronavirus pneumonia on February 12, and is currently hospitalized in Nanjing Public Health Medical Center. The relevant situation has been announced to the society through the media. According to the requirements of the epidemiological investigation, close contacts of family members and other members of the population were observed in accordance with the specifications for medical isolation. At present, all isolates have negative nucleic acid tests and no abnormalities in chest imaging.

Rumor: On February 15th, a piece of information about Dalian's prohibition of motor vehicles on the road from February 16th was spread on social media such as WeChat.

Truth: The "Emergency Notice" was forged from the relevant content of "Jingmen City New Coronavirus Infected Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command (Order No. 9)", and the Dalian Municipal Government has not released it on any media, nor authorized any units and Personal post this false information.

Chloroquine Phosphate for New Coronary Pneumonia
February 18, 2020 03:17 Source: Science and Technology Daily
Expert Zhong Zhongshan led an expert group to discuss and agree:

Our reporter Zhang Jiaxing

On February 17, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council held a press conference to introduce the progress of medical treatment.

Zhong Zhongshan academician led the expert group to recommend that chloroquine phosphate will expand clinical application

Sun Yanrong, deputy director of the Biological Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said at the meeting that more than a dozen hospitals in Beijing, Guangdong and Hunan provinces jointly conducted a safety and effectiveness evaluation of chloroquine phosphate in the treatment of new coronary pneumonia. In clinical terms, the chloroquine phosphate treatment group is superior to the control group in terms of a series of indicators such as the rate of exacerbation, antipyretic phenomenon or lung image improvement time, viral nucleic acid negative time and negative rate, and shortening the disease course. . As an example, a 54-year-old patient in Beijing was admitted to the hospital on the 4th day after the onset of the disease, and the nucleic acid turned negative after taking the medicine for one week. All the indicators improved, and the criteria for separation and discharge were met. In terms of safety, so far, no serious adverse reactions related to the drug have been found in more than 100 patients.

Based on the above research results, on February 15, a video expert meeting was organized in Beijing by the main members of the scientific research group such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Health and Health Commission, and the Drug Administration. The expert group leader of this meeting was Academician Zhong Nanshan served as the expert, and several drug development and clinical experts participated in the expert demonstration to jointly study the efficacy of chloroquine phosphate on new coronary pneumonia. The expert group reached a consensus after careful and meticulous research and concluded that "the drug is an old drug that has been on the market for many years, and its safety for the treatment of a wide range of people is controllable. Based on the results of research conducted by previous clinical institutions, it can be clarified Chloroquine phosphate has a certain effect in the treatment of new coronary pneumonia. " Based on the urgent needs of clinical treatment, experts unanimously recommend that "chloroquine phosphate should be included in the new edition of the diagnosis and treatment guidelines as soon as possible, and the scope of clinical trials should be expanded."

Plasma during recovery is an effective treatment for severe / critically ill patients

Regarding the question of the principle of healing and the effect of the treatment of the recovering plasma, Yanyan Sun said that the recovery of plasma treatment is one of the ancient and innovative first-aid measures, and it has been applied to sudden infectious diseases in the past ten years. . In the first batch of scientific research emergency projects that were set up urgently on January 22, the scientific research group incorporated the preparation of plasma during the recovery period into project support. Sinobiology is a specialized emergency response unit. It launched emergency deployment in Wuhan. The first plasma of patients in recovery period was collected on February 1. The first severely ill patient was treated at the First People's Hospital of Jiangxia District in Wuhan on February 9. Ten patients received treatment in the following week. It is understood that 1 of the patients being treated has already been discharged from hospital and 1 has been able to walk down the ground. The remaining several patients are in the recovery period. We will also pay close attention to clinical progress. The scientific research team will also perform the expected curative effect and risk assessment on the plasma treatment methods in the recovery period, and we will follow up and judge in time.

燕 Guo Yanhong, Supervisor of the Medical Administration and Hospital Administration of the National Health and Health Commission, said that the recovery period of plasma treatment is very effective for critically ill and critically ill patients. In fact, the plasma treatment of the recovering patients is actually using a certain titer of virus-specific antibodies in the plasma of the recovering patients to reduce the virus content in the patients, thereby achieving the treatment expectations. For recovery period plasma, there are strict quality control requirements from its collection, preparation, storage, and clinical application. At the same time, we guide the establishment of provincial-level expert groups throughout the quality control of recovery period plasma collection and patient treatment.

In terms of specific operations, Wang Guiqiang, chief physician of Peking University First Hospital, said that during the recovery period of plasma treatment, no whole blood is collected, only plasma is collected, and blood components such as platelets and red blood cells will be transfused. Before donating plasma, donors are tested for antibodies and viral nucleic acids. The former detects antibodies to new crown virus, the higher the titer, the better the effect. The latter is to ensure that the coronavirus is negative for nucleic acid. Although discharged patients meet the nucleic acid standard twice, they are still tested.

Can new crown pneumonia heal itself?

Regarding the claim that neo-crown virus circulating on the Internet is a self-limiting disease and can heal itself at home, Wang Guiqiang said that self-limiting disease does not mean that no treatment is needed. Self-limiting disease means that some patients can effectively eliminate the virus through their relatively strong immunity and will not become chronic.

For the new type of coronavirus infection, some mild patients can be cured through general support for symptomatic treatment and traditional Chinese medicine for clearing heat and detoxifying. Self-limiting diseases, especially new coronary pneumonia, are highly contagious. All confirmed cases need to be observed and cared for in medical institutions or institutions such as the Wuhan Fangfang Hospital, on the one hand, to isolate the risk of blocking transmission, on the other hand, The disease avoids the deterioration of the disease. The disease progresses suddenly. Indeed, a small number of mild cases have progressed suddenly, entering severe, critical, and even life-threatening conditions. We emphasize that new crown pneumonia virus infection must be actively treated in hospitals, and do not delay treatment due to the characteristics of its self-limiting disease.

Guo Yanhong said that although the disease is a new infectious disease, it is preventable and treatable. At present, the number of patients discharged and cured is more than 10,000, and the number of newly diagnosed cases has dropped for 13 consecutive days. After research, the average time from discovery to diagnosis is currently 4.95 days. At present, clinical diagnosis and treatment include symptomatic treatment, antiviral treatment, and improvement of immunity to accelerate the healing of patients. Especially recently, the number of severely ill patients has been greatly reduced through early diagnosis and early treatment. It can be seen that four mornings and four concentrations are the main measures to improve the cure rate and reduce the mortality rate. Effective diagnosis and treatment and effective symptomatic treatment are the best ways to treat new coronary pneumonia.

Analysis of clinical data of Zhiqingfei Paidu Decoction shows that the clinical effect is obvious

Li Yu, director of the Department of Science and Technology of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that relevant departments included observations of 701 confirmed cases of using Qingfei Paidu Decoction, of which 130 were cured and discharged, 51 had disappeared, 268 had improved, and 212 had improved symptoms. Symptoms did not worsen. Analysis of 351 cases with detailed case information showed that 51.8% of patients returned to normal temperature after 1 day of medication, and cough symptoms disappeared in 46.7% of patients. After 6 days of treatment, 94.6% of patients returned to normal temperature and 80.6% of patients had cough. The symptoms disappeared. At the same time, it also has obvious effects on other symptoms, such as fatigue, poor appetite, and sore throat. Of these 351 patients, none of the light and ordinary patients were converted to severe or critically ill; 3 of the 22 severe patients were cured and discharged, and 8 were converted to the general type; a total of 46 patients were cured and discharged. Qingfei Paidu Decoction has good clinical efficacy and treatment prospects for the treatment of new coronary pneumonia.

蒋 Jiang Jian, director of the Department of Medical Affairs of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that up to now, more than 630 Chinese medicine hospitals in 28 provinces (municipalities, districts) have sent more than 3,100 medical staff to support Hubei. The bureau sent a team of experts led by three academicians, Zhang Boli, Huang Luqi, and Tong Xiaolin, and a total of 588 national TCM medical teams to Wuhan. They were stationed in Hubei Province Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital, Jiangxia Square Cabin Hospital, and Thor. Mountain Hospital launched rescue work. As of February 17, a total of 60,107 confirmed cases of Chinese medicine participated in treatment nationwide, accounting for 85.20%. In areas outside Hubei, 87% of Chinese patients participated in the cure and discharge of confirmed cases.

Coronavirus Among Medics More Widespread Than Reported, Research Shows
By Ma Danmeng and Denise Jia

The biggest study yet of the Covid-19 epidemic found that almost twice as many Chinese medical workers have been infected as officially reported by the government, though the research didn’t turn up the source of the novel coronavirus.

A team at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) studied 72,314 cases as of Feb. 11, among which 44,672 were confirmed cases of coronavirus. The sweeping study was published Monday by the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology.

The researchers found that 3,019 medical workers had been infected, among whom 1,688 patients were in severe or critical condition. As of Feb. 11, the government acknowledged more than 1,700 medical workers nationwide as confirmed with the disease, almost 90% of them in Hubei, according to Chinese National Health Commission deputy chief Zeng Yixin at a press conference Friday.

The overall death rate among confirmed cases was 2.3%, the CDC researchers found. In Hubei province, the epicenter of epidemic, the pace of fatalities was 2.9%, compared with 0.4% in the rest of the country, according to the paper. For patients more than 80 years old, the fatality rate can be as high as 14.8%, the study found...

by Jason Gale
Bloomberg
Feb 18, 2020

Blood tests showed an over-activation of a type of infection-fighting cell that accounted for part of the severe immune injury he sustained, doctors at the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital in Beijing said in a study released Sunday...
