Positive COVID-19 cases up to 26

AN additional two persons have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, bringing the island’s total to 26.

Making the announcement yesterday in the Lower House, Health Minister Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic said the two had emerged from 26 tests conducted on Thursday.

“One of those is a 65-year-old Barbadian who had travelled to the United States and returned and that person is now in isolation and contact tracing has begun, moving aggressively to be able to identify, locate and treat to those contacts. The other person, I am awaiting some information on that individual, but there are now 26 cases,” he stated...

COVID-19 cases reach 33 in Barbados

Confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barbados are 33.

This announcement was made by Dr Anton Best, Acting Chief Medical officer, a short while ago on BrassTacks Sunday.

Best said there are 19 imported cases of COVID-19 and 11 were identified through contact tracing. Two cf the confirmed cases are still being investigated, he said.

Of the confirmed cases, there are 16 male and 17 female...

34 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Barbados

Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic announced this evening that one more person tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barbados.

That brings the total number of COVID-19 positive patients now in isolation to 34. Of the 34 positive cases, 21 are Barbadians.

Results returned by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory today revealed that a 24-year-old man who was identified through contact tracing was the only positive case out of 22 tests carried out on Sunday.

Health officials said the majority of people who tested positive for COVID-19 had mild symptoms. Thus far, only two are in acute care.

Acting Prime Minister, Santia Bradshaw has revealed the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Barbados has increased to 51.

This new figure, released on Friday April 3, 2020, is an increase of five, up from 46 cases announced on the previous day.

Barbados today recorded its first death related to COVID-19, according to Minister of Health and Wellness Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic who made the announcement a short while ago.

Bostic said the deceased is an 81-year-old Barbadian man with a travel history to the United Kingdom.

Barbados has confirmed 56 cases of the novel coronavirus which has infected more than 1.2 million and killed just under 68,000 people worldwide.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness COVID-19 Update Dashboard today confirmed that two persons received their second test of negativity stating that eight persons are now recovered. The Dashboard also indicated that as of 12 pm today, April 8, the number of confirmed cases remains at 63 and the number of deaths is three.

To date, three Barbadian men locally have succumbed to the disease. They all had underlying comorbidities which made their situations "very grave" according to medical officials. They were 81 years old, 74 years old and most recently 95 years old.

Barbados' eight recovered persons who have completed their quarantine and recorded their two negatives can now reintegrate into society.
