The other thread was loading more and more slowly, so I thought I'd start a new thread with Week 1. Missouri appeared to have peaked, but ILI has spiked again.

About half the states are showing a decrease in ILI from Week 52 to Week 1.

I think care must be taken with rates apparently turning down after an apparent "peak" in Week 52. Note this from the current CDC Flu Report: "The increase observed in week 52 may be attributed in part to a reduced number of routine health care visits during the end of year holidays, which has been observed in previous seasons"

We shall see what the stats for this week show. Google (as I posted in another thread) doesn't "believe" the CDC reported national surge/drop (but then I don't think the CDC does either considering their "disclaimer" i quoted). If Google Flu Trends has it right the reported US national ILI rate will jump back up in Friday's report.

ILI is down in some states, but others show a dip and then an increase again, so it's hard to predict the peak.

Although some states appear to be post peak, others that have been hit hard showed a decreasing trend over the past two weeks only to have ILI increase again in Week 3. We shouldn't let our guard down because ILI is an early indicator and fatalities trail by as much as 4 to 6 weeks.
