Labs under fire to douse dengue panic

- Mamata denies holding back data
Our Bureau

Oct. 12: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee today denied that her government was suppressing facts on the spread of dengue in Bengal and blamed "misleading" blood test reports from some private laboratories for the panic that has swept the state.

"I reviewed the situation thoroughly and was informed that there have been 30 dengue deaths, 14 of them in recent months. Compared to Bengal, states like UP, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have reported more deaths caused by dengue," Mamata said after a review meeting at Nabanna, which houses the chief minister's office.

She said statistics - 40 dengue deaths in Tamil Nadu this year, 35 in Kerala, 141 in Lucknow alone and 21 in Delhi - proved that Bengal had controlled the outbreak of the vector-borne disease better than some of these states.
...
Sources in the health department contradicted the official stand through statistics that paint a far grimmer picture. Since July, 17 people have died of dengue in one state-run hospital alone, they said.

A private hospital in Calcutta has reported more than 20 dengue deaths this year to the civic authorities. Other hospitals in the city and health care units in the districts have similar dengue mortality rates.

In all these instances, blood samples taken from the patients had tested positive for the dengue virus in the NS1 antigen test.

Sources said the figure of 30 cited by chief minister Mamata today was much lower than the actual toll because some state-run hospitals had stopped mentioning dengue in the death certificates of victims.

The scores of people suffering from fever for the past few weeks at Deganga in North 24-Parganas, 45km from the heart of Calcutta, think they have dengue. But in the absence of adequate or affordable testing facilities, the administration has been quibbling over the diagnosis.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee today said only one of eight deaths attributed to dengue in Habra and Deganga was caused by dengue.
...
At Chandpur, 5km from the health centre, at least a dozen villagers claimed that 13 residents had died of fever in the past two weeks.

The death certificate of Rabeya Bibi, former Trinamul member of the Deganga-I gram panchayat who died on Tuesday, cites cardiac arrest, her family said. "It doesn't mention the fever at all," her son said.

Dengue itself doesn't kill but can cause complications like multi-organ failure that do. The health establishment is being accused of focusing on the final cause of death and not what led to it.
...
Three deaths from fever were reported today: Rashida Bibi, 34, and Chanera Bibi, 38, died in Deganga and Babon Das, 7, in Habra.
...
"A dengue test is not available at the health centre," farmer Mustafa Mandal, who had come from nearby Nasimpur, said.

Health department officials acknowledged receiving reports of fever cases but were silent on dengue.

"We are sending samples to the National Institute of Virology, Pune, and Nimhans, Bangalore, in case of 'unknown' fever," Biswaranjan Satpathi, director of health services, said. "We found 25 per cent cases to be AES (acute encephalitis syndrome) and could save them with specific medicines."

Santosh Kondu Sirsaat's 5-year-old witness Santosh Sirasat, who had a fever in the last 2-3 days, was taken to Aurangabad after primary treatment. However, she died during treatment. Meanwhile, an ornamental building has become an architect because there is no building doctor at the health center of Wadgaon Tejan, which is under Sultanpur Primary Health Center. The building has been built for the past 25 years and during this period, the doctor stayed in the hospital for two to three years.
Since this village is river bank, the doctor should remain regular in this village; Since there is a rural area, doctors are not ready to live there. Since the patients in the village can not get the first aid in time, the villagers like the girl have to lose their lives, but the villagers are demanding that the resident doctor should be arranged here.

Padma Bibi (35), a resident of Daganga Chalka, had a fever in the last few days. Blood samples were sent to Barasat District Hospital on Saturday. The woman died on way to the hospital in Kolkata on Saturday night before the report was held. Dipa Sadkhana of Ambikanagar died on Friday due to fever. Even after his death, blood report did not come, said the village girl Saitika Mitra. Devangar Mansur Ali was admitted to Vishwanathpur sub-health center with fever. Blood transfusion from the hospital did not come even after three days off.
To know what the disease is, if so much time passes, then how will it be treated properly, the question is arising. Doctors report, whether it is dengue or viral fever, sometimes the number of platelets can rise hourly. Dangi's organism can attack other parts of the body. As a result, after one day, the platelet test is necessary. Need some more tests. But it is delayed to report the blood samples after the government system. Not all tests are going on.
But why such a situation?
The Health Department has said, not to take Dengi Test (NS-1) without the official place. But in north 24 Parganas, there are no arrangements for dengue test in most of the hospitals, health centers in fever-affected areas. Dangi is tested at Barasat District Hospital, Bidhannagar, Sagar Datta and Basirhat District Hospital. Testing platelets in some of the health centers. Other than that, the private lab is dependent. Although their report is spreading confusion about dengue, a section of health officials thinks. He also spoke to the Chief Minister from Nabanna.
Though the crowds of private lab labs in Habra, Denganga, Barasat, Basirhat are increasing without responding to the government's request. Heavy prices have been counted. Platile examination is about 70-80 taka Dangi's examination is about Tk 700-100 Other than those who are going to government hospitals, how are they? Every day hundreds of people have been tested for dengue in Barasat district hospital. Fever, on the weak body of the body is going to stand on the line after hours. Giving the next date. Blood samples collected from hospitals or health centers in other districts of the district are being collected here. Every day where thousands of patients need blood tests, there are just 200 people examining how the situation can be managed, the question is arising. The condition of Basirhat District Hospital is practically the same.
Due to the deterioration of many people to get reports. Many patients died in the last two months on the way to the hospital in Kolkata. Examples of Degna Padma Bibi Surujit Das (21) of Dasapara of Amulia Panchayat was admitted to Agarkar with fever. Get sick again on Friday after getting home again. Died on Saturday on the way to hospital.

Jagaran Reporter, Ambala: Dengue is spreading its roots in the Babhali camp. On Tuesday morning, 28-year-old Suman died due to dengue. He was undergoing treatment in his private hospital for the past few days and the report also confirmed dengue. Apart from this, more than 100 people have been ill for many days in Babil and three people have died here in the last 15 days. Despite this, the health department is claiming to be viral rather than confirming dengue here.

Actually, in some houses in Babil, some members are getting sick every day. Many people have also been admitted in the cantonment and city district civil hospital. About six people have been admitted to the Health Department about ten days before the confirmation of dengue of Babil residents. Suman, a resident of Babil, who died due to illness on Tuesday, has confirmed the dengue in his report by the private hospital. Regardless, its health department is unmasking in confirming it. Even four to five days ago, a young woman had died from dengue here and the department also flung her head after telling her as suspicious. Babri resident and former panchayat member Harjwantra, Oberoi told that his 19-year-old son Ajit has been admitted to a private hospital for several days and he has confirmed dengue.
BJP Kisan Morcha also dengue

Misleading minister

The official is also misleading Health Minister Anil Vij. When the first case of dengue came out, the authorities did not pay any attention. Dangi can not be written, trouble will happen, hospital hospital master

An experienced doctor has finished writing the Death Certificate only. A nearby private hospital in Calcutta almost jumped. "Dangi can not be written in any way. It will be a problem "- Aarti the master.
The doctor said, "I just do not get treatment. How many dengue patients are coming to me, how many people are going to die, in which case they came to me, keep all the information. "The doctor told the hospital that he would write the death certificate for the death certificate. If authorities want to tear it apart and write it to someone else. But relatives of the deceased do not want other doctors' death certificates. As a result, the authorities are in control.
Health officials were under pressure. But after the public comments made by the chief minister that 'Dangi is spreading unnecessarily panic,' some private doctors complained of a part of the doctors that the dead patient's death certificate was not allowed to write the exact cause of death. In that case, many doctors are telling that, if they walk in this way, they will
It is not possible to have relationships with the hospital.

The doctors who fall in the daily fever patients, some of them are few in the Chamber. That is not to reduce the incidence of fever. The person who wrote the name in a doctor's chamber in north Kolkata, was seen in the evening one evening, where is the patient's home, and the relationship with the local leaders, he is also asking. His remarks, "I am writing the name knowingly and knowingly. Seeing the people in the confused area, I will return. What is the need for thorns! '
Chief Minister imposed a 'panic attack' over a class doctor and laboratory. Many labs are reluctant to risk risks due to dengue identification. They started to return the patient. Those organizations whose pathologists had been able to keep detailed information of Dengi so long for the experience and research, they are annoyed with the issue. One said, "I have to call black in black and white in white." If I can not say, what is the benefit of doing it! "
Health officials did not want to comment on this. But Santanu Sen, editor of the state unit of the Calcutta Council's Trinamool Councilor, Indian Medical Association, said, "If this is the case, it is immoral, it is immoral. The authorities should be brought to the notice of the doctors if they are lazy to look after the dengue. "But the doctors and laboratory authorities can work independently in this situation? Shantanu Babu said, "Dangi's outbreaks have occurred this year for the characteristic changes in the virus. But in many cases viral fever is prone to dengue. It is wrong, it is spreading panic. "Shantanu Babu said that the ruler's eyes are getting blood sugar vision.
