    EDMONTON - Scientists at the University of Alberta have discovered how a virus can keep a human cell from killing itself, a process that allows a viral disease spread throughout the body.

    The discovery opens a new field of research, and could be the first step toward better vaccines for several widespread diseases.

    ?It opens up a whole new way we could block infections,? said Tom Hobman, medical professor of cell biology who worked on the rubella virus with former PhD student Carolina Ilkow and biochemistry professor Ing Swie Goping....
