    HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern Ben Tre province has seen the first outbreak of A/H5N6 bird flu which has led to the culling of 1,000 chickens.

    Mr. Tran Quang Thai - Director of the provincial Department of Livestock and Veterinary said that the Department had just destroyed the chickens of 1,000 chickens of Mr. Mai Trong Huu household due to H5N6 bird flu infection as prescribed.

    Previously, on August 18, 2019, Mr. Mai Trong Huu's flock of chickens, living in An Trach Tay hamlet, Thanh Thoi B commune, Mo Cay Nam district showed signs of hemorrhage, wheezing and dying.

    Mr. Huu bought medicine for injection but the chicken was still dead, he informed the village and hamlet veterinary staff. After that, the authorities conducted a sample to send the test, the result was positive for H5N6 virus. This is the first avian influenza outbreak in the province.
