The specialists made a trip to southern provinces last week to inspect measures to prevent type A flu in humans and poultry, during which they asked the concerned localities to ensure the accuracy of reports on the disease in order to avoid causing misled alarm among local people.
The localities were also required to increase public awareness of avian influenza by delivering leaflets and documents to every household in areas which have been struck by the epidemic.
Also at the regular meeting of the Steering Committee for the Prevention of Type A Flu in Humans, a representative of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology revealed that 12 monitoring stations nationwide have since the beginning of this year tested between 20-30 samples a day, all of which showed negative results with flu virus strain H5N1.
