Nghe An strives to stamp out African swine fever
            LDO | 24/09/2020 | 14:41

African swine fever outbreak has occurred in 9 districts in Nghe An province. Provincial agriculture sector, local authorities are trying to stop.

At this time, in hamlet 2 (**** Nghia commune-**** Nguyen district-Nghe An), the barn, which had 2 sows, 6 porkers with a total weight of about 1 ton, of Mr. Tran Van Tien is now empty. due to African swine fever. "Just re-herding not long ago, the family is once again empty-handed," said Mr. Tien.

Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of People's Committee of **** Nghia commune said: “In less than 2 weeks, there have been many outbreaks of African swine fever with small scale, mainly in household scale. family. At present, the commune has destroyed more than 4.1 tons of pigs from 10 households in the area ”.

According to the report on the disease situation, Que Phong district destroyed 166 pigs from 52 households in 9 hamlets in 3 communes Chau Thon, Chau Kim and Quang Phong. In many villages and hamlets, the raising of pigs freely or not applying the methods of biosafety, veterinary hygiene, spreads and spreads diseases.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Hien - Director of Que Phong agricultural service center said: “The district has sent forces to each village to propagate people to declare when it detects abnormal signs of pigs. Deploying the supply and distribution of 204 liters of chemicals and 14.5 tons of lime powder to high risk areas ”.

After a period of lull, from the end of August, African swine fever outbreaks again in the province of Nghe An. As of September 21, the number of swine epidemic forced destruction was 474 heads belonging to 123 households of 27 communes in 9 districts.

Talking about the cause of the epidemic spreading, Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Livestock and Animal Health said: “Nghe An is wide, there are many highways, many trails, the opening goes through; the breeding form is small and scattered, making it difficult to control; Long heavy rain, dead animals, waste from slaughterhouses go everywhere ... "

“Districts have to check and make statistics on the total number of pigs; At the same time, propagandize and guide people to apply biosafety measures in animal husbandry, perform well 'five zero' according to regulations and especially not to hide epidemics, not to sell sick pigs ”, Mr. Quynh added .

In particular, in order to avoid the situation of "overlapping epidemics" (avian influenza A / H5N6 appeared in some localities), localities need to strictly control the epidemic at the grassroots level. Increase seed control when re-herding. Besides, deploying vaccinations on a large scale, disinfecting the environment to proactively prevent other diseases on livestock.
