    Incidences of dengue fever in Vietnam this month have risen sharply, by nearly 63 percent while meningitis is 186 percent over last year, the Ministry of Health reported recently.

    Incidences of dengue fever in Vietnam this month have risen sharply, by nearly 63 percent while meningitis is 186 percent over last year, the Ministry of Health reported recently.

    In this month alone, Vietnam has registered 6,730 new cases of dengue fever infections - nine of which were fatal - in 35 out of 64 provinces and cities. <o></o>

    According to the statistics, the death rate from dengue fever thus increased by 83 percent over the same period last year.<o>

    Meanwhile, the country also this month has had nearly 360 new cases of meningitis, a severe inflammation of cerebrospinal fluid-producing membranes in the brain.<o></o>

    Encephalitis or brain infection has infected 32 people this month in 15 provinces. Two have died
