ST. GEORGE ? The Southwest Public Health Department is reporting this morning the first suspected case of H1N1 swine flu in Southern Utah.

According to a release from the SWUPHD, the case has passed the state laboratory screening process as a ?probable case,? and will now undergo final testing for confirmation.
?We are actively investigating this case and tracking potential contacts,? Dr. David Blodgett, SWUPHD director and health officer, said in the release. ?This person is not a school student, so school operations will not be affected.?
Health officials are encouraging people to take common-sense precautions to prevent the spread of the disease. People are advised to wash their hands frequently, to avoid touching the facial area and stay home if they are sick.
