    Swine Flu & Kids

    September 15, 2009

If you're kids have flu like symptoms there's a good chance it's swine flu. In fact, it's a 98% chance. That's according to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control.

Area doctors say they are seeing an increase in the number of sick children at their clinics. Dr. William Fader with "Kids Clinic" on South Staples says in the last two days alone he's received 90 calls from parents who have concerns and questions.

Parents say they don't want to take any chances when it comes to the health of their children.

The City-County Health Authority says the average age of those who are getting the swine flu is ten years old. They're also reporting that there are several schools, specifically elementary and middle schools in C.C.I.S.D., which have seen a recent decrease in attendance.

They expect it to only get worse once the official start to flu season begins in the next few weeks.
