  • Family, kids cope after pregnant woman died of H1N1 flu

WHAT HAPPENED: Mekisha "Kisha" Agee, 25, contracted H1N1 flu in February while carrying her second child. She died Feb. 21, but the baby was saved. Kayelyn Agee, who weighed 4 pounds and 7 ounces, was in critical condition at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt after her mother's death. Kisha Agee also had a 3-year-old son, Cameron Agee.

THE BACKGROUND: Kisha Agee, a Westmoreland resident, did not receive a flu vaccine. Tennessee had widespread flu activity during February. Pregnant women are among the groups especially at risk for complications from the flu.
