LEWISBURG ? Several Bucknell University students have been diagnosed with type A influenza, presumed to be H1N1 or swine flu.

The students were diagnosed and treated on Sunday and Monday. All of the students are in isolation or returning home to recover. Officials from Bucknell did not state specifically how many students had been diagnosed.

The university has informed those who are known to have been in contact with these students and instructed them to monitor themselves for symptoms of the flu and to call Student Health Services immediately should any symptoms emerge.

Bucknell students test positive for swine flu

    -snip-

The university has established a special Web page, www.bucknell.edu/swineflu that contains information about preventative steps that students, faculty and staff can take to protect themselves from the flu.

The Web page also contains up-to-date information about swine flu cases at Bucknell.

Sept. 7, 2009: Letter to Bucknell Students

      Dear Students,

The University has now confirmed that several students have tested positive for influenza type A, and based on the best advice of public health authorities we are assuming these cases are novel H1N1 influenza or "swine flu."

The students have been isolated, or will be returning home with their parents. We are communicating with those who have been in close contact with these students to ask them to remain alert for symptoms. If you do not hear from us you can assume that we do not have specific information suggesting these students may have been around you recently.
