WBFO News photo BUFFALO, NY (WBFO) - The State Health Commissioner says the H1N1 virus, or Swine flu, will be back this season.
Commissioner Richard Daines hosted a town hall meeting in Buffalo Wednesday morning on the topic. Danies appeared with local health and Buffalo school leaders at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts School as part of a statewide series of public meetings to discuss swine flu.

The commissioner focused on the spread of the virus in schools. Daines says closing schools is not the answer.

Daines says a vaccine for the H-1-N-1 virus should be ready by mid-October.

The Buffalo School District hosted Daines. District officials used the event to introduce Dr. Steven Lana as the new Medical Director for city Schools. Lana says carrying for children in a poor district will be a challenge. Lana stressed that if children are sick, parents should keep them at home and out of school.
