I was wondering when it would hit baseball teams...the Marlins who played the Mets over the weekend in NY had a bunch of sick players too.

MYFOXNY.COM - A member of the Mets' traveling party has been hospitalized in Pittsburgh with a possible case of swine flu, according to a New York Post report.

The person is part of the SNY broadcast crew that travels with the club, the report said. The crew member is apparently in isolation at the hospital.

Meantime Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran is out for the third consecutive game because of a stomach virus. The team believes Beltran is suffering from a gastrointestinal virus and not swine flu.

Pitcher John Maine has also been dealing with a stomach illness.

The Mets say these illnesses are not connected to the TV crew member's sickness.

Mets exec John Ricco said the sick worker will be kept separated from the team and traveling party until doctors figure out what kind of flu he has.

(Queens, NY) -- The New York Mets could face a scare away from the field of play, possibly involving one of their star players.
A producer for the Mets broadcast team has been sent home after possibly contracting swine flu.
At the same time, Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran sits out a third consecutive game with an unspecified stomach ailment.
Starter John Maine has been dealing with a stomach virus as well.
The team is confident both players have not contracted the H1N1 virus, which has lead to four deaths in New York City.
The club says it appears Beltran has a gastrointestinal virus rather than swine flu.
The producer, Dan Barr, traveled with Mets players on the team's charter flight to Pittsburgh over the weekend.
The cable network SNY would not comment directly on the health of Barr, calling it a personal matter and confidential.

PITTSBURGH -- The New York Mets, in town for a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates, are facing an H1N1 flu scare.

A member of the Mets' broadcast crew was sent home to New York with a probable case of the flu virus.

Team management said none of the players are showing H1N1 symptoms, but team doctors are still taking precautions.

Following Tuesday night's game at PNC Park, pitcher John Maine and outfielder Carlos Beltran fell ill with a stomach virus, but the team said their symptoms are different than those consistent with H1N1.

A TV technician with the Mets' station flew with the team to Pittsburgh, but went back to New York for more testing and treatment.

"Given his symptoms, and given that occurred from New York where there's a fair number of cases, I would assume that it's probably H1N1," said Dr. Bruce Dixon of the Allegheny County Health Department.

Team trainer Ray Ramirez talked to players Tuesday, informing them of possible symptoms and precautions they can take.

Team officials said there have been no confirmed cases among any its players or coaches.

"We're always concerned that people in close contact with each other -- particularly in a plane -- may spread a virus of any sort a little more easily than they do in the general community, so I think that the team doctor is perfectly appropriate to at least verbally screen people and say, if you have symptoms, we want to be a little bit certain that we get you appropriate treatment," said Dixon.

Wednesday night's game between the Pirates and Mets at PNC Park was rained out.

The teams meet again Thursday afternoon at 12:35 p.m.
