    Influenza activity: Sporadic

This past week, our tracking systems (laboratory testing, sentinel physician visits, emergency department visits, and influenza hospitalizations) continue to suggest there is a slight increase in influenza activity and circulating in many areas of the state. We have received no reports of influenza-associated outbreaks in schools or in long term care facilities.

Of the 476 rapid influenza diagnostic test (RIDTs) reported, 21 (2.49%) were positive, with 4.41% (n=21) positive for influenza A and 0.00% (n=0) positive for influenza B. The predominant circulating strain at this time is Influenza A 2009 H1N1(82%) with 18% being Influenza B.

Sentinel Provider Surveillance: Of 1636 total patient visits reported, 12 (0.73%) met ILI criteria, increasing from 0.53% the previous week.

Emergency Department (ED) Syndromic Surveillance: For the week ending Nov. 130th, the percent of ILI visits was 4.43%, an increase from 3.58% the prior week.

Inpatient Surveillance: Of the 4,017 total admissions reported for this week, 80 (1.99%) were for ILI, increasing slightly from the 1.58% the prior week.
