A Winona teenager is dead from a non-contagious form of bacterial meningitis.
Scott Hannon, an administrator with Winona Area Public Schools, says male ninth grader at Winona Senior High School died Wednesday.
Minnesota Department of Health spokesman Doug Schultz tells NewsChannel 8 the form of meningitis the student died from is not infectious, and there is no threat to public health.
Hannon says the student, whose name has not been released, was very well-liked at Winona Senior High. Grief counselors have been available for students this week at the school.
