Knox schools close with flu
October 15, 2009
Schools were closed because of flu-like illness Thursday in Knox County, located in southeastern Kentucky.
In total, 11 schools in the district were closed. There were no school closures in the Louisville area, school and health officials said.
?I think districts are doing a really good job,? said Lisa Gross, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Education. ?They?re erring on the side of caution.?
She added that several districts also have fall vacations around this time, meaning students are taking time off without missing school work while the state is experiencing widespread flu.
