Swine flu death confirmed in Hernando County

BROOKSVILLE - The first Hernando County death from the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, has been confirmed by the Hernando County Health Department.
The unidentified victim is a 40-year-old man; it's unclear at this point whether the man had underlying health conditions that could have contributed to the death.
"This is very sad news to report. Our sympathies go out to the family and friends of this individual," Elizabeth Callaghan, Hernando County Health Department administrator, said in a prepared statement.
Hernando County has reported three cases of swine flu to date. Florida has reported 2,188 confirmed cases of H1N1 and 12 deaths associated with the illness.
