SAN DIEGO?Authorities say a 36-year-old man has died of swine flu in San Diego County, its fifth resident to die of the disease.
The county's Health and Human Services Agency confirmed Thursday that the man's death was associated with the illness, although he had underlying health issues.
The announcement comes a day after Los Angeles County health officials confirmed two swine flu deaths, for a total of three in that county. Two other deaths were announced earlier this week by health officials in Stanislaus and Santa Clara counties.
San Diego and Orange counties each have reported five swine flu deaths?the most in California.
Statewide, more than two dozen people have died of the swine flu this year.
