ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A third Alaskan has died from complications related to swine flu, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services said Tuesday.

The middle-aged woman from Seward was suffering from a cough and fever and was admitted to Providence Alaska Medical Center on Aug. 15. She passed away Aug. 28 from respiratory problems. DHSS says she also had a pre-existing medical condition.

The state virology lab confirmed that a sample taken from the woman tested positive for the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.

Previous Alaska deaths related to the flu had been limited to children.

This is a developing story. Return to KTUU.com as more details become available, and watch the Channel 2 News evening broadcasts for a full report.

Back in your skin of course, you'll shriek for a cure. But remember: air travel, roads, cities, prostitution, the congregation of people for efficient commerce - these are gifts of godspeed to the virus"
