    As of December 13, 2024 the transparency has become clouded - there are confirmed herds with the same confirmation date being reported later on multiple days.

    All state totals and the US total are the known number of herds and are a range only - not absolute certain counts.

    As of August 4, 2025 11:00 pm ET a total of USDA confirmed + highly probable herds via states = 1,083


    Arizona = 5 dairy cattle herds, incl. 1 bulk tank test result, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

    California= 771: all dairy cattle herds, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

    Colorado = 65: dairy cattle herds (one herd counted twice as also reinfected link) and dairy bulk tank test results, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

    Idaho = 108: 107 dairy cattle herds, 1 alpaca herd, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

    ​Iowa = 13: all dairy cattle herds

    Kansas = 4​​: all dairy cattle herds
