Federal officials on Thursday rejected calls for mandatory travel restrictions to contain the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, despite public fears about a man who traveled from Liberia to Dallas before being diagnosed with the virus.

Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health experts stressed that the chances of an outbreak in the United States are small...
