  • Re: FluTrackers Confirmed U.S. Deaths - June 27 +

thebes, thanks so much. I've deleted our District of Columbia death.

One thing I find a little strange is that the press release on Virginia #2, before the person was identified as David Twomey, was described as having "an underlying condition which put him at greater risk for complications". And yet the new article has no mention of any health issues, unless strep throat and a staph infection count as underlying conditions.

        Appleblossom,

Do you have your data in a spreadsheet that you could send me? I started to do the aggregate calculations that I would like to have, but found it rather tedious....

Here is what I have come up with so far, to give you an idea where I'm going with this (click on thumbnail to enlarge):

SOT, wow that looks great! Much easier to read than my list. unfortunately I have not made a spreadsheet of the data. my computer skills are pretty sorry, so text files are about as advanced as I ever get. What you see posted here on FluTrackers is what I have.

and yes, it is very tedious.

I have the Excel file (saved as text) I made to track cumulative deaths reported by the media attached. It is just cumulative counts by date; I like to see things graphically.

I had a request for it, but other folks are welcome to it to use however they wish.

Do we have this Marin Co death from 7/3 in our list? If so, which number was it?
A 33-year-old woman with pre-existing medical conditions is Marin County's first confirmed H1N1 flu death, Marin County Deputy Public Health Officer Dr. Anju Goel said.

The woman died Tuesday evening at an Alameda County hospital where she was taken after her condition worsened in a Marin County hospital, Goel said.

I've just spent most of this afternoon trying to sort out California.

After some additions, per entries that are on the latest CA-DOH website, that I did NOT have listed, I now only have ONE MORE entry than they do. I have checked and re-checked and come up the same each time. They have 23 ... I have 24. You have 19. Here's what I came up with:

Well, that's an afternoon gone! I agree that it is going to get to a point where tracking is going to be difficult to impossible. At least for now, it'll help w/ the various investigations going on with ages, days between onset and death, and all the other areas folks are closely looking at. I hope this helps -k

I certainly don't have the backup that you do (great work BTW), but somehow, I have the same count you do - 24. Appleblossom's last non-detail list also shows 24 on Post #122.

Good three of us have the same, then. Must have missed your last posts, while sorting this all out.

Seems your total is one more than mine, as well. Hmmm.... too brain drained to find that, today, lol! -k

Readymom, yes it's very confusing! I think comparing lists is helpful, thanks so much for posting yours check back to post #118 page 4 on this thread, that's the most current details list which shows how we got to 24 in CA. As far as I can tell, all our county totals match the ones listed by CA DPH, except that we count three in San Diego County to CA DPH's two.

It's making it harder to follow now that they are posting new fatalities on the website without accompanying media releases.

fifth Suffolk County resident with a confirmed case of swine flu has died, the county's health department said Monday.

The latest victim is a woman from the Town of Babylon, between 55 and 65 years old, "who had multiple underlying medical problems," the county said in a news release.

The woman was hospitalized June 6, diagnosed with the H1N1 virus on June 23 and died Saturday.

Suffolk Health Commissioner Dr. Humayun Chaudhry expressed his sympathy to the victim's loved ones and asked that "residents continue to be mindful of the steps that they can take to minimize their exposure to the virus."
