This is the first day since Nov 2 that states reported fewer than 100,000 new COVID-19 cases. Today’s data is missing updates from a handful of states, some of which regularly do not report on the weekend, some having technical difficulties.

The number of people currently hospitalized continues to decrease — today’s number is the lowest since Nov 19, 2020. We are still far above the peak hospitalization numbers, around 60k, during the April and July surges.
