    As to a 2nd wave - truth....

No one knows what is going to happen but it is good to be prepared.

COVID-19 might slowly transmit for a long time or there might be a large scale outbreak in the future.

Masks help but they are not 100%.

    Only you can protect you.

There should be others from "civilized" places.
And probably they are busy searching since Jan....
I wonder why it was renamed. Maybe the "Rat" actually refers to rats, like "Bt" refers to bats. They might have adapted the BtCoV/4991 bat strain from the cave where the miners got that atypical pneumonia to rats as the other researchers did with another bat virus in the paper you found.

Despite the failed isolation of the infectious virus from PCR-positive samples in Vero E6 cells, we attempted to isolate the virus from suckling rats by infecting them with tissue samples that were positive for the coronavirus. After 15 days, pathological analysis showed that the tissues and organs of the infected rats exhibited varying degrees of inflammation, and the inflammatory reaction in the brain tissues was most evident.
Those baby rats must have suffered quite a bit.

There has been much controversy regarding the origin of the Wuhan coronavirus. It appears that both possibilities, naturally occurring or man-made, are legitimate enough to be debated fully....

        • Hi Everyone...I received an email today and I am replying here....

In the "news" it is widely seen that many, many people do not wear masks at large public events and holidays. We have all seen the pictures. We have also seen the various main stream media cover these events. It is clear there are political opinions expressed on what are supposed to be "news" shows. So much for unbiased news - on all sides.

Anyway...apparently there are a lot of people online encouraging people to ignore warnings about COVID-19, the potential spread, the seriousness, etc.

Then I was thinking...what the government and corporations really need now is herd immunity. Vaccines are realistically a long way off...maybe a year...and who knows what the effectiveness will be....(don't count on them)....

The best way to get herd immunity quickly is to get millions of people infected and recovered (or not).

The UK considered doing this at one time and Sweden did do this with some restrictions - no "conspiracy theory" needed.

So if you are on one of those internet boards where people are telling you the pandemic is a hoax and go on out into society and live as usual - think about that.

Again, we do not know what is going to happen. A slow constant flow of cases or a surge until herd immunity is reached are options. The most prudent thing to do is to live your life but be careful especially if you are in a risk group.

I have been around a long time and the internet is still a wild and crazy place. A lot of manipulation goes on. Just like in real life....things are not always what they seem.

          Take care out there.....

Identifying airborne transmission as the dominant route for the spread of COVID-19

                Significance

We have elucidated the transmission pathways of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by analyzing the trend and mitigation measures in the three epicenters. Our results show that the airborne transmission route is highly virulent and dominant for the spread of COVID-19. The mitigation measures are discernable from the trends of the pandemic. Our analysis reveals that the difference with and without mandated face covering represents the determinant in shaping the trends of the pandemic. This protective measure significantly reduces the number of infections. Other mitigation measures, such as social distancing implemented in the United States, are insufficient by themselves in protecting the public. Our work also highlights the necessity that sound science is essential in decision-making for the current and future public health pandemics.

                  • I think we may have had another novel virus circulating at least in the Seattle, WA area. I posted about a local doctor with a radio show who said he wife came back from China with a cough on Jan 7th and then a couple of weeks later he got even sicker, (he’s 30 yrs older than his wife), with what he thought were classic COVID symptoms. He and his wife have had the antibody test now and both were negative.

One of his long time patients, (also a man in his 70’s), called into his show yesterday and said he got sneezed on at a store during the early part of the pandemic and he got very ill and then his wife also got very ill with what they thought was COVID. She was so sick that one day he heard a strange sound and found his wife out on the patio crawling to get back inside because she was so tired and out of breath. I’ve read about this happening to others. At the time they could not get a COVID PCR test, but they recently had the antibody test and neither was positive.

The patient asked if the antibody test could be giving a lot of false negatives, but the doctor thought the chances of two people in the same household having had COVID and both testing negative were “infinitesimal” so for this to happen twice would be almost impossible. He just thinks it was a different virus and that people should not assume they are immune to COVID just because they had a very severe ILI during the pandemic.

I’ve seen other reports by people here that think they had COVID as far back as November, including one of the family members of a Kirkland nursing home victim. There was a policeman in Poulsbo who died with what they thought were COVID symptoms but he never tested positive. (I think they counted this as COVID, anyway, as even gunshot victims who die while COVID positive are counted as COVID deaths in WA state.)

Worth bearing in mind that WA was elevated for Flu B all through Dec and Jan and reported over 50 fatalities. https://flutrackers.com/forum/forum/...es-6-pediatric

Beginning March in CA, my husband was hospitalized with sepsis after fighting a viral respiratory illness. We thought he was COVID and the first to test locally - result was negative - for EVERYTHING ... rhino, corona, adenovirus, influenza, etc... One week after he had symptoms, 2 kids came down with swollen tonsils, high fever ... strep positive ... they were sick for a week and a half AFTER antibiotics with high fevers and cough in addition to the swollen glands...One week after they started symptoms, my oldest teen started a dry, hacking cough and low fever, three days later high fever, 2 days later sore throat, took her in, COVID tested, Negative! Strep tested - Negative! Influenza - Negative - her glands also swelled considerably... I have wondered, too, if a novel adenovirus is circulating. Although the military does Adenovirus surveillance - might not hit the radar or be a concern if people aren't actually dying en masse. Especially since there are so many people that insist they were so sick and tested negative to influenza...

I'm sorry your family went through that, curiosity! That was really serious. And that it is all a big mystery. I wish we did more investigations into these human illnesses, at least storing samples if they can't diagnose the illness. Maybe the military needs more funding for Adenovirus surveillance. I wondered about that virus in some of the cases. Though influenza B as Ronan mentioned could be behind the illness of the patient and his wife I heard on the radio. He mentioned body aches and I don't remember him saying he was tested for influenza.

                  • Emily, the renaming, maybe another researcher. Everyone has his/her own system of
naming, abbreviations. And it changes over time. What's "TG" ?
                    Transglutaminase,Thyroglutamin, some labperson may know.
                    -------------------------------------------
Adrian Gibbs, wasn't that the one who claimed 2009 H1N1 were manmade ?
Maybe it's his agenda, no matter what the truth is.
                    ----------------------------------------
Well, my agenda is to warn mankind from science that leads us to creating pandemic
viruses as a side effect. But I do not see much evidence that this one is it already.
I'm at 70% natural (giving such probabilities is another agenda of mine)
