I want to know what the WHO is not telling us. They must be quite concerned and know something if they are raising it to level 5.

Re: WHO Moves to Phase 5: Pandemic
I don't believe the definition of pandemic actually speaks to the potential deadliness of the disease, just that is is (or in this case is likely to be) widespread and transmits easily between people. Compare the Spanish Flu to the much "milder" Hong Kong and Asian flus of the last century. All three were pandemics but you really can't compare the latter two with the first.Wotan (pronounced Voton with the ton rhyming with on) - The German Odin, ruler of the Aesir.
I am not a doctor, virologist, biologist, etc. I am a layman with a background in the physical sciences.

Re: WHO Moves to Phase 5: Pandemic
I renewe the moved phrase: save your self
Good is the starting of the country real preparations by the rising of the level (many was dormient from the 2005, so now fall into queues).
Less good is that the patents would not be lifted off by an international join decrete, only leave at the discrecy of the individual corporations, with a claim to do that.
So maybe the generics would have troubled waters to reach the masses.
And not very good remains the decision of the board from few days ago to not shrinck the international traveling.
Even knowing that this way (as admited) the pandemic virus trasport much faster from continent to continent, no change.
The above decision would do the extra spreading by the mainly business travelers probably.
If the virus remains light, this could maybe pass somehow, but if the virus goes serious, how they seems to be more incline to think, because it is so fast and bright new, it would further change itself.
By allowing this few weeks only cargo and special flights, we all could have at least a few weeks more to breath lighter and to the countries to more prepare.
The first human scientific tracking stil fail to counterfeit the pandemic begining, no matter the space gadgets.
Sobering.
I must say that Snowy was totaly right the last summer.
He insisted on the pandemic insurgence to be near the corner.
And previously was dropped the economic pandemic, to make us more shocked.

Re: WHO Moves to Phase 5: Pandemic
I am not planning to bug out. Hunker down if the cfr is really ugly. We still don't know what the cfr is today. This may be, relatively speaking, not as bad as we fear. Then again it may. Time will tell. In any case preparing yourselves for a probable home quarantine is wise. Whether it is to prevent someone from getting sick or, to help someone get well after tehy were infected. Please do not ask me for medical advice, I am not a medical doctor.
Avatar is a painting by Alan Pollack, titled, "Plague". I'm sure it was an accident that the plague girl happened to look almost like my twin.
Thank you,

Re: WHO Moves to Phase 5: Pandemic
I work for a large university and will no doubt be exposed once it hits here. We're as prepped as can be for in-home quarantine as well as recovery. We'll take our chances until/unless they close the campus.

Last night I watched "winged migration" - one of my favorite movies - and was happy that those beautiful birds won't carry all the blame for a pandemic.
