Lima, nov. 08 (ANDINA) .- At this time of year when children tend to shed the heavy clothing due to temperature change, cases of acute respiratory infections (ARI) increase, warned doctors of the National Institute of Child Health ( SPGM).
"Emergencies come to 200 daily attention," said the director of this institution, known also as a former Children's Hospital, Roberto Shimabuku, who recommended parents to care for the health of their children.

He noted that the main recommendation in such cases is not self-medicating but taking them to the pediatrician. "Giving drugs without prescription is very delicate as it could cause resistance to antibiotics when you really need."

Referred in the months of November and December, when the temperature is changing, especially school is bleak and cold drinks taken, which is harmful to your health.

Former Children's Hospital serves more than a thousand daily 200 juveniles. In emergencies, the care varies from 150 to 200 a day, most acute respiratory infections (ARI) in the transition from one season to another.

He also stated that, after the IRAs, the major emergencies are caused by accidents. "The injuries are usually caused by rough play," he said.

"Parents should keep in mind that children are naughty by nature and we must be vigilant and teach them the dangers to avoid," he said.

According to epidemiological studies at the region of the Americas, ARIs stand among the top five causes of death among children under five and are the leading cause of illness and consultation of health services.
