In 2011, of the 103 cases studied, 73% are in Bogota, including respiratory syncytial virus remains the leading cause (49%), followed by parainfluenza virus (22%), adenovirus (20%) and the virus Influenza A (10%).

The most affected are children under 5 years and the symptoms include fever, malaise, congestion, runny nose or conjunctivitis, which eventually evolve other symptoms such as cough, sputum and shortness of breath.
