Symposium Influenza A H1N1 in children in Argentina: epidemiology, treatment and prophylaxis
    Monday, 06 July 2009

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society of Argentina (SADIP) organizes on Tuesday July 14, the Symposium "Influenza A H1N1, which the doctor has to know" under the supervision of Dr. Eduardo Lopez, Department of Medicine, Hospital de Ni?os Ricardo Guti?rrez.

Among the topics to be developed are: virology of the disease, its epidemiology, clinical features, treatment and prophylaxis. The meeting will be held at the National Academy of Medicine, located on Avenida Las Heras 3092, Buenos Aires.

The influenza virus A H1N1, which has been declared as the cause of the first pandemic of the twenty-first century, shows different behaviors according to the geographical region that supports it. In Argentina, unlike other countries in the Northern Hemisphere, one of the greatest number of recorded cases are children, which requires design strategies coupled with this reality.

Studies related to the seasonal flu virus, indicates that children are the main transmitters of the virus: as a young person or adult may pass for 2 or 3 days, a child of preschool age is at most 1 week.
