    1. Develop with your current child?s teacher a core list of educational achievement goals that can realistically be reached in a home setting situation.

    2. Obtain a detailed list of subjects that your child should know about for their age and educational level from your local school. Once you have that list,
    a. go to library book sales, yard sales, used book stores etc and get books and magazines that address those topics
    b. Buy a used copy of an encyclopedia as a reference book numerous on subjects
Download onto disc or hard drive educational information for the children to use while they are home on medial sheltering in place. There are free online sites that can offer games, puzzles etc that are age and educationally appropriate to help supplement the other learning tools that you have developed for your child.

    3. Ask your school to provide you with 6-8 weekly packs of educational home instruction for your child incase there is an interruption in daily school instruction. Also see what is available in home schooling resources and helpful online information. Many home school programs have support groups online that can be of help in establishing a home program.

    4. Check on distant learning educational instruction programs and even schools that may be available for your child. There are many levels of school programs from young childhood to post graduate academic degrees that can be obtained online. Consult with your local school administration concerning quality of the programs as well as transfer of academic credit for the educational instruction provided.

    5. Inquire on your local educational system?s availability for a distant learning education in your area. There may be distant learning programs already available in your school district. Ask how a child can be transferred into that educational system if necessary and how long that process takes for a transfer to occur. Complete applicational forms to speed up the enrollment process if that is the choice you make and school space available.

    6. Check with your local library system to see about their online Internet services that the entire family can utilize during a sheltering in place situation.

    7. If you do not feel comfortable or have the time to develop your own child?s at home educational program, contact your local college education department and inquire if there are upper level students that would share some of their education instructions they have personally designed that are educationally appropriate for your child. You may want to offer to donate to the student?s educational fund for providing those instructions to you. Inquire if any of those students would be willing to design a mini educational curriculum for your child. Perhaps a college instructor could offer extra credit to students who do this. Check with other parents to see if they would be willing to contribute to the educational curriculum project to help defray the cost of the project. Share the educational materials with those other families that contribute. This will be an opportunity for the college students to design meaningful educational materials to assist children at home while helping out significantly the educational needs of the community in a medical crisis.

    8. Inquire of the teachers association in your area of retired educators that would be willing to help develop or share already personally designed educational tools for children sheltering in place during the pandemic.

    9. Obtain a emergency school supply kit of resources and supplies like paper, pencils, pens, rulers, arts and craft project items, flash cards, maps, games etc that can help to continue the educational process

    10. Set aside a designated area of your home that will be your school area. Let the children know that that this area is special and important area for them. Provide the work area with table and chair(s), proper lightening from window(s). This will help to provide some meaningful and comforting structure for your child in a disruptive medical situation.

    11. Set realistic blocks of time per day that is for school studies only. By considering what the amount of time in addition to where and how education will be addressed in the home prior to the medical emergency this will help reduce stressful conditions later on. Have a calendar or daily check list that keeps track of the amount of time, activities and days that your child has spent in educational instruction. This educational record will help when your child returns to their regular local school situation

    12. Develop an at home library of books, games and video resources that can supplement learning and entertainment for all age levels. You can do much to instruct your child in the importance of reading and learning by reading to them, having them read to you as well as for them to see you reading and learning.
