A novel study conducted by researchers from New Zealand has claimed that an individual can be infected from a seasonal flu and pandemic flu like H1N1 at the same time.
In addition, the main point highlighted by the study is that it if a cell is infected by both the flu viruses, the strains could swap characteristics, thereby resulting in a pandemic that would be resistant to drug.
The study author, Dr Matthew Peacey from the Institute of Environmental Science and Research claimed that he analyzed over 1,000-plus swine flu samples. The study report claims that over 11 of those samples scanned also bear strains of a seasonal flu virus.
