The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has today announced the detection of two additional MERS-CoV cases ? one apparently a healthcare worker, while the other was a `contact? of a previously detected case ? and both are described as having a `mild? illness.

These are the first new cases reported since July 8th. No date of onset of symptoms is provided.

Mild (or asymptomatic) cases ? while only rarely reported with MERS-CoV ? increase concerns that this virus could spread undetected in the community.

MOH: 'Two New Cases of Novel Coronavirus Recorded in Asir'

Within the framework of the epidemiological surveillance of the novel Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that two confirmed cases of this virus have been recorded. The first case is for a 26-old-year Saudi male in Asir, who was in contact with one of the confirmed cases. The second case is for a 42-year-old female resident working at the health sector in Asir. Both cases have mild symptoms that not required admitting to hospital.

It is worth mentioning that, the MOH has tested 1460 samples since the start of the previous month of Sha?ban, given that, all of them have been proved negative, May Allah be praised, except the cases that have been published.

This thread shows that there is, apparently, a 4 day time period between tests being sent to the lab for verification and confirmation reports showing on the Ministry of Health web site.
