Re: Mexico: Secretary of Health reports and case counts

    2282 cases , 58 deaths

is there a webpage which gives the actual counts from each country
in a table as a picture which can be posted here as link and appears
in the right bar at FT, just as the updated pictures with
    share-indices,gold etc. ?

    for a quick overview

also the actual increase per day or 48h

and BTW. FT loads slowr for me recently. I think it's due to the increased number of colored
items on the main page. Replace them by text only ?
I'm interested in expert panflu damage estimates

        Caracas,
        Sunday
        May 17,2009

MEXICO CITY ? The number of confirmed deaths in Mexico caused by the AH1N1 flu virus increased to 66 and the number of contagions to 2,829, although the mortality rate continues to decline, Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said Friday.

He told reporters that the disease has killed 2.3 percent of those infected, compared with the 2.4 percent reported Thursday, so that the ?mortality index continues to drop.?

The last death recorded in Mexico was on May 10, while 61 of the 66 confirmed fatalities showed the first symptoms of the illness before April 23, the day on which the federal government decreed a health alert for the new virus.

Cordova said that next week will be ?crucial? for confirming whether ?the trend towards a decrease will continue,? and for that reason asked schools and universities to keep in place ?for another week? the checkups they have established at the main entrances of their installations.

Next Monday Mexican students will all be back to school, since those in the states of Chiapas, Zacatecas, Jalisco, Hidalgo, Guerrero, San Luis Potosi and Michoacan will return to class, as already occurred on May 11 in the country?s other 24 states.

Among those who died, 56.1 percent were women, while 75.8 percent were between the ages of 20 and 54. EFE
