  • Workers From Mexico Must Have Physical Exam

OTTAWA -(Dow Jones)- The Canadian government said Monday seasonal workers from Mexico have to undergo physical examinations before leaving that country, which is grappling with an outbreak of swine flu.

The workers must also have their temperatures taken by two doctors before they leave Mexico, Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said at Question Period in the House of Commons.

Swine flu has killed more than 100 people in Mexico. Canada has so far confirmed six cases, and no fatalities.

Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq said Canada is well-prepared to deal with threats to public health. She said the Public Health Agency of Canada has developed a comprehensive pandemic influenza plan.

"This plan for example includes a domestic vaccine capacity and stockpiling of anti-virals," Aglukkaq said in Parliament
