Graves, eight of 10 patients still in INER by influenza A

Report SSA 4 thousand 806 cases confirmed as of yesterday, more than 265 against them on Monday

Amounts to 85 the number of deaths throughout the country as a result of the strain A/H1N1

At the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (INER) 10 people remain hospitalized because of influenza A/H1N1, eight of which were serious, said the hospital director,
Rogelio Perez Padilla, who has already denied that the standard in the metropolitan area of Mexico valley.

In an interview, the expert stressed that the risk of infection persists and is evident every day in the INER, where daily reach between 20 and 30 people with respiratory conditions, three or four symptoms of influenza, and may be the caused by new virus.

He warned that the risk will have passed "when they no longer get sick and have sporadically been the need to enter any hospital."

Meanwhile, a report from the Health Secretariat (SSA) on the situation of the epidemic of A/H1N1 virus in the country indicates that up to yesterday had 4 thousand 806 confirmed cases, which equates to 265 more than reported Monday, which drew attention because last week the number of outbreaks that were added each day it was located between 120 and 150, approximately. Thus, the peak of influenza is found in the April 27, when 353 people started with the symptoms. According to the chart provided by the agency, as of that date the number of patients began to decline, and in the days before the May 11th about 100 individuals are infected with the new strain of influenza.

Due to the time lag between the taking of nasal or pharyngeal swabs and sent to the National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (at least six days) to confirm if this is the A/H1N1 virus, you have to wait before having reliable information on the status of the epidemic over the past 15 days.

According to the report yesterday, the most recent case was tabled last 22 days, and before it was three on 19.

Perez Padilla stressed that continue to arrive at INER suspected cases of influenza A/H1N1, three to four newspapers, which have a fever. He noted that although the most critical days of the epidemic will have reached 10 at the hospital revenues, and this week there was an internment per day (Monday and Tuesday), there is the risk of contagion from the new strain.

Moreover, contrary to what the owner reported that the Secretary of Health Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, compared to free medical care to patients with influenza A/H1N1, the director of INER said that no official communication the SSA in this regard, it administratively, any hospital is difficult to exempt patients from paying for the services received.

Said on Monday he confirmed by phone that comes free of clinical care for those affected by the new virus. Insisted, however, requires a written communication.

Perez Padilla said that the distribution of INER in influenza A/H1N1 patients may reach between 500 thousand and 5 thousand pesos a day, depending on the severity, and socioeconomic studies for the majority of users are classified as lower fees.

As for the 85 deaths in the country until yesterday, the paper stresses that there are 16 states where the deaths have been reported. In the past two days were added, with one death each, Jalisco and Tamaulipas, and Oaxaca grew from two to four deaths. 52 The Federal District concentrated, representing 61 percent of the total.
