Nation's Public Health Communicators Launch Enhanced Web Site
ATLANTA, May 1 (AScribe Newswire) -- The National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC), a national public health communicators association, today announced the launch of its enhanced Web site - http://www.nphic.org/ - for public health communication professionals and others interested in public health communications.
While public health communication professionals work behind the scenes at state and local health departments and non-profit organizations across the country, they seek opportunities to improve public health nationally. The improved Web site provides an opportunity for public health communicators to share and discuss public health messages and strategies aimed at educating the public and improving the nation's health. Public health topics on the Web site range from heat safety to pandemic flu preparedness.
Visitors will note the site's news-like format complete with news releases, video/public service announcements and links to national public health organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"This Web site is the next logical extension in online public health communications," said John Stieger, President, NPHIC. "When visiting the Web site, users will see that it has been substantially reorganized to provide simpler navigation and more effective access to the information and services people need." The site also has been designed to reflect a common look and feel throughout, providing a consistent and user-friendly experience. The site also includes a members-only area where members can share information with one another and seek feedback on public health communication strategies before they are launched.
In order to meet the increasing demands of what is being termed the "digital lifestyle," NPHIC will also soon add a multimedia resources section that will provide access to video and audio, slide shows, photo galleries and more.
NPHIC was established 18 years ago as an organization designed to promote an awareness of public health issues among the nation's people. Members include local, state, and territorial health department communications specialists as well as communications partners from a variety of federal health agencies, non-profit organizations and professional health services groups.
