    SANA'A, Sep. 28 (Saba)-Some 217 affected swine flu cases were registered in the country until now, Spokesman of the Supreme National Committee to Encounter the International Pandemic of Swine Flu Abdul-Hakim al-Kohlani said.

    On the other minister of education Abdul Salam al-Jaofi headed a meeting for the directors of education and health offices across the country in which he affirmed importance of spreading knowledge about this virus and means of protection.

    The minister added that a report would be raised to the coming meeting of the cabinet over possibilities to start the study year in secondary schools and to start the study in primary schools after one week or ten days.

    He added that the ministry of education and health ministry have taken protective measures to face the virus.

    Recently, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the delay of the new academic year for a week.

    Minister Saleh BaSurrah said the postponement comes after deliberation with the Ministry of Public Health and Population and was aimed at identifying practical measures to prevent the pandemic at the Yemeni universities.

    BaSurrah also said that the ministry will draw a plan to combat the flu at the universities to the meeting of the National Anti-Pandemic Committee.

    The plan includes organizing lectures to alert the students about the H1N1 pandemic, posting publications revealing its symptoms, instructions and ways to prevent and fight it, he said.
