    BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Basra demanded the provision of materials Veterinary examination of bird flu, according to the veterinary hospital, while the control of the Commission held its first meeting on the epidemic this year.

    Said Dr. Mushtaq Abdul-Mahdi told (Voices of Iraq) said that the Veterinary Basra as "a need for many of the supplies necessary to sustain its work more effectively," pointing out that these requirements "of special materials to examine bird flu and the mechanisms that enable veterinary teams to visit villages and rural areas ".

    Abdul-Mahdi said that there was "a lack of supplies and equipment, including the number for the examination," noting that the validity of the material available to the hospital, "was about to expire during the current year 2009."

    Said Director of Health Promotion Division of the Commission on control of bird flu in Basra, "held its meeting today (Wednesday) and discussed the obstacles that hinder its work, including the veterinary side constraints."

    According to Dr. Qusai Abdul-Latif told (Voices of Iraq) that the meeting, which included those of the Commission on retaining control of the bird flu, consisting of the Department of Health and Environment and Veterinary Directorate and the Council of the governorate and police headquarters, "appended to those discussed ways to confront the obstacles the possible spread of the epidemic and control by stakeholders to address the for the provision of essential supplies. "

    The director of the veterinary hospital in Basra, said the beginning of last March in March 2008, the epicenter of bird flu was discovered in the area of the Fadaghiyah Faw (100 km south of Basra), since many of the dead chickens without any casualties, which has prompted the authorities concerned to maintain to take the necessary precautions.

    Is noteworthy that the bird flu is an acute viral disease affecting birds and supports high Hlakat causing up to 100%, do not stop the infection of birds, but only the species barrier to infect animals and human beings, too, has emerged as the cases of human infection and deaths in a number of Asian countries, then spread to Europe and other countries.
