I want to inform you that avian influenza H5N1 has been found in 4
cities in Iran. The government has killed a [large number] of poultry
(broilers, layers and breeding hens) during the recent 50 days
. This
has led to an increase in the price of broilers and eggs.

[Additional information on the AI situation in Iran, hopefully also
from official sources, is anticipated.

According to OIE's WAHID interface, no semi-annual or annual animal
health reports have been submitted from Iran for the years 2009 and
2010.

A regular reporting record is required from all OIE member countries.
Such reporting is conditional for the inclusion of a country in lists
of countries officially recognised as free of OIE-listed diseases. At
present, 4 diseases are included in this recognition procedure: CBPP
(contagious bovine pleuropneumonia), FMD (foot-and-mouth disease),
rinderpest, and BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy). - Mod.AS]

machine translation-

Looks like high egg prices are driving the government to import eggs to keep prices stable.

Price of eggs (Habibi - 11 Persian date Esfand 1389) Gregorian Calender = March 2, 2011 (S.)

Egg prices rising in recent days spends his time but the it so the price remains stable at least part of the first quarter Zyandh Poultry compensate. These days, the government may seek the protection of consumers comes respect and from alternative channels such imports to use to market shortages Do not hope in this regard in line with government measures that surpassed consumer protection to producers also seen that the industry suffered losses in recent years have been able to serve consumers Drrastay remain stable.
