    ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraq’s Ministry of Health and Environment warned on Tuesday that hospitals around the Middle Eastern nation are incapable of meeting the needs of sustained high numbers of new coronavirus patients.

    Director-General of the Ministry’s Public Health Department Riyad Abdul Amir said in a statement that "hospitals are almost losing control from absorbing the high number of COVID-19 patients," expressing his hope that the government would reinstate strict precautionary measures to stem the tide of the highly contagious disease.

    "The coming days," he added, "will be dangerous to the health of the population."

    Earlier that day, health officials said they recorded 8,922 new infections and 59 deaths over the previous 24 hours. This brings the total figures since the first case was confirmed in Iraq to 1,510,517 including 17,951 deaths...

    BAGHDAD, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Iraq reported on Tuesday 12,185 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily count since the outbreak of the pandemic, raising the nationwide caseload to 1,577,013.

    A statement by the health ministry also confirmed 71 more deaths, bringing the death toll from the virus to 18,418, while the total recoveries in Iraq climbed by 8,547 to 1,429,542.

    A total of 12,856,522 tests have been carried out in Iraq since the outbreak of the disease last year, with 52,367 done during the day, it said.

    The statement also said a total of 111,122 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of doses administered to 1,480,784...

      TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 400 coronavirus patients died in Iran in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to above 92,000, while nearly 40,000 new cases have been detected across the country since Tuesday.

      Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 92,194, saying the disease has taken the lives of 409 patients over the past 24 hours.

      She also noted that at least 3,444,700 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

      The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 4,019,000 following the detection of 39,357 new cases since Tuesday noon, the spokeswoman added.

      Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,959 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted...
