The security forces raided the house of Abdul Jalil Sharnoubi, a member of the Egyptian Press Syndicate and editor of the Brothers Online - the official website of the Muslim Brotherhood - because of news coverage of the next local council elections.
In the month of October 2007 Egyptian court convicted Anwar Al Hawwari, editor of the opposition Wafd newspaper, in addition to the board chairman and the opposition Wafd Party leader Mahmoud Abaza and reporter Younis Darwish charges of libel and defamation lawyers. Had been sentenced to imprisonment for one month.

The International Federation of Journalists said Egypt has become one of the most repressive countries for journalists, after the prison sentence of six months in jail on the editor of the "constitution" opposition Ibrahim Issa.

The Court has issued six sentenced to a period of six months, Ibrahim Issa, editor of the newspaper Constitution, this provision was rewritten because of the report included the allegation that the President is facing health problems.
The judge decided that the reports published by Issa had led investors to withdraw their money from the country, causing the collapse in the stock market and decline in the performance of the economy.
The judge said that Ibrahim Issa cited reports on the health of Mubarak with the knowledge that they fabricated.
He said Aydin White, Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists "witnessed this week alone condemnation of a journalist and raided the house of another journalist. Clear that there escalation in the attack on the Egyptian media and journalists who suffer criticize the Government of the results of this attack."
The Ibrahim Issa pay a fine of forty dollars to avoid going to prison while the appeal's ruling against him.
He was scheduled to report to Issa State Security Court, which can not appeal the ruling by, but ultimately the case was presented before an ordinary court.

وقد قامت محكمة جنح بولاق بإصدار حكم بالسجن لمدة ستة أشهر على إبراهيم عيسي، رئيس تحرير صحيفة الدستور ، وجاء هذا الحكم بسبب كتابته تقرير تضمن ادعاء بان الرئيس يواجه مشاكل صحية.

وقد قرر القاضي بأن التقارير التي نشرها عيسى قد أدت إلى ان يسحب مستثمرون أموالهم من البلد، مما تسبب بانهيار في سوق الأسهم وهبوط في أداء الاقتصاد.

وقد قام إبراهيم عيسى بدفع غرامة مقدارها أربعون دولارا لتجنب دخول السجن بينما يقوم باستئناف الحكم الذي صدر بحقه.
