Hi All,
As some of you have taken note, the seasonnial influenza in the Southern Hemisphere, mainly in Australia & New-Zealand provided datas, is more virulent than the previous years.
As we are getting in the Northern Hemisphere Seasonnial influenza season and, as we know the Austral problems are now heading towards now as usual, we must this year taking into account the virulence factors of the new influenza strains we are going to face.

...Director of communicable disease control, Dr Paul Van Buynder, said the speed at which the three children fell ill was a concern.
... "Parents whose children have cold or flu like symptoms, including a cough and a fever, should see their general practitioner."
... The health department is advising all parents of young children to see a doctor for the flu vaccination if they have not already done so.

...WA Health Department director of communicable disease control Paul Van Buynder says people calling a hotline set up last night had to wait an hour to speak to a health worker.

...All the children were aged under five and each are believed to have died within 24 hours of showing the first signs of the flu. Two died at their homes before their parents could seek medical attention and the third died before being admitted to hospital.

..."The death appears to have been sudden, as the woman had attended her workplace Monday morning and was sent home unwell,'' said chief medical officer Professor Chris Baggoley.
..."The best advice is for people to be immunised against the flu.
... "It's not too late to vaccinate for this flu season and the vaccine covers the A strain.
"I would also strongly urge all health workers or support workers in a health setting to be vaccinated to protect themselves and others from the spread of the infection.''
...they are a reminder that while seasonal influenza epidemics have been mild in Europe in recent years that should not be seen as the norm.
