TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Dr Soetomo Hospital, the main public hospital in Surabaya, East Java, said on Wednesday its resources is being stretched over the limit in handling the swine flu outbreak, prompting the hospital to reject unconfirmed swine flu patients.

?The (maximum) capacity of the isolation ward in this hospital is just 15 patients, today we have 20 patients,? spokesman for the hospital dr Urip Murtedjo told Tempo.

Urip went further that ?If (those who are suspected of being infected with swine flu) have not been tested positive, we suggest them not to be taken here.?

Urip said half of the 20 patients, two of whom are Chinese citizens, have been tested positive of conracting the H1N1 virus but he refused to reveal the exact number. Five of the 20 patients have to be treated outside the isolation room for lack of space.

The hospital said it is cooperating with Sukolilo Hajj Hospital and other private hospitals in the city to tackle the outbreak.
