I'm not buying the idea that this family and twelve others are sick because of fertilizer.

I think there were officially 8 from one family and then there was a mention of 12 others in the hospital. So that would make 20 unofficially.

But then there was the mention of 128 unofficial cases from May 2nd.

Basically, it sounds like there are more cases than being officially reported.

But I don't have an official statement to deliniate between the unofficial case reports and the offical case reports.

Here is what I have.

Mother died but was not on the official bird flu list.

five dead:
Died today. Brenata child 18 months. (This may be the same person referred to as Renata Tarigan aged 1,8 in another news article)
Died May 10 Ana Br Ginting aged 29 years
Died (?) Bonny Karo-Karo 18 years.
Died May 9. Roy Karo_Karo aged 19 years
Died May 4. Praise Br Ginting age (?)

Three or four in hospital

Renata Tarigan (see above, this may be the same person as Brenata) aged 1,8
Rafael Ginting age 8 years
These are the two that fled and where hauled back
Jones Ginting aged 25 years and her child
Obviously Ulina Br Gintling aged 8.

Then we have word there are 12 others in hospital. However are these 12 different people or do they include those 3/4 listed above?

way no.im sayin we got sick within a few days of this dusty bird fetilizer was spread on the farm,and were sick for 2 weeks.maybe no connection,but i thought it was strange and i wondered if there was a connection at the time.coincidence maybe?

The above report confirms H5N1 in the Karo cluster. Since there are already five fatalities, this cluster accounts for the largest number of H5N1 fatalities and is cause for concern

At least 2 additional family members are hospitalized as are 12 other suspect cases.

Well the last post puts paid to the idea part of the twelve were from the same family. Which makes the count 20 in all, I believe.

I got a pt from a member who says it is entirely possible the fertilizer was aerosolized. Spread on a dry windy day the particles could have floated all over the village. People could have touched anything and been contaminated if they didn't breathe it in to begin with. Poor souls.

prior to the 1918 outbreak at the army camp in kansas they burned the fields and the sky was "yellow" i recall.
