"Two patients who were treated in hospital isolation room negative Soedarso susfect bird flu, Influenza A type HINI positive. Type influenzanya than usual and not fatal bird flu, "said Dr. Abdussalam. And low in the cause of death. But be dangerous if not treated quickly. Because the virus attacks the human lung tissue. Which spread through the human rather than from pigs. While for two other patients, Ar and WN, are still awaiting results of laboratory examinations of Research and Development Institute Ministry of Health in Jakarta know the symptoms of a virus that attacks. Simultaneously Dedet, said fourth condition of the patient is now his condition continues to improve.

Go back, go dr Abdussalam, typical clinical presentation of swine flu infection in humans are similar to ordinary inluenza. With symptoms of viral infections that attack humans if the fever more than 37.8 degrees centigrade, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache and pain. He also explained that non-fatal influenza A compared to bird flu. Even very low in the cause of death. But be dangerous if not treated quickly. Because the virus attacks the human lung tissue. Which spread through the human rather than from pigs.

Influenza type A viruses are divided into several sub-types based on two types of proteins on its surface. This protein is called as Hemaglutinin (HA) and Neuroaminidase (NA). There are 15 types of sub-types of HA and 9 NA subtypes, and various combinations of the two types of proteins can be found.

Only some type A flu virus that commonly infect humans today, namely H1N1, H1N2, and H3N2. While some sub-types commonly found in animals, such as H7N7 and H3N8 flu that causes disease in horses.

Sub-type called type A flu virus based type of HA and NA proteins, for example is the H1N2 type A influenza viruses that have a type of protein, HA protein 1dan NA2. So that the virus is H5N1 Avian Influenza Virus Type A that have a 5 HA and NA proteins 1.

In the meantime, DD has come home first and the results were negative. Remaining two other patients the DN and Au, are still awaiting results of laboratory examination of Research and Development Institute Ministry of Health in Jakarta to know the symptoms of a virus that attacks.

Typical clinical presentation of swine flu infection in humans are similar to normal influenza. With symptoms of viral infections that attack humans if the fever more than 37.8 degrees Celsius, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache and pain.

Precautions that can be done, said Dedet, avoid contact with people who are sick. Then cover the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing and washing hands with soap and water. "More important whenever possible to avoid contact with others when the flu. Or remain silent in the house when they have flu symptoms, "he added.

Bird flu suspect patients who are being treated in Dr Soedarso hospital, Dany Ardian (10) and Audina (8) tested negative bird flu H5N1 by Ministry of Health Research and Development laboratory (Litbangkes) in Jakarta. Previously, dr Soedarso hospital was reported to have treated four bird flu suspect patients.

On the other hand, test showed that patients were positively contracting H1N1 infection so they?re still under intensive treatment. This result was announced by officials of dr Soedarso hospital, dr Abdussalam and dr Dede.

?Two patients have been tested negative bird flu H5N1 but positive H1N1. It is relatively mild disease, unlike bird flu,? said dr Abdussalam.

In meantime, hospital is still waiting for test result of two other bird flu suspect patients, Ar and Wn. So far, all four bird flu suspect patients treated in dr Soedarso hospital are in good condition.

                    Influenza A viruses mutate genes

Pontianak (ANTARA News) - Influenza viruses type A as A5N1 and A1N1 predicted genes have been mutated so that it can grow in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, the temperature around 30 degrees celcius.

Pontiac City Health Office Head, Multi Juto Bhatarendro, said Tuesday in Pontianak, Pontianak temperature like that any virus should be dead. If one can survive the possibility during the rainy season.

"So the bird flu virus, swine flu, or SARS could emerge during the rainy season in December until April and usually in temperate countries," he said.

Padjadjaran University alumnus was doubted if the city of Pontianak, the regions through which the Equator line with enough sunlight into the influenza A virus was developed.

"It's a bit odd, there is a gene mutation or high mobilization of where the origins of these viruses," said Multi.

Not only that, because growth is also closely associated with viral vectors would have also hooked up with neighborhood problems.

"For example, if you got the flu and did not want to wear masks and not far away from the inhalation of course healthy people in healthy people will be infected," he said.

For that purpose, Multi suggest to people to always cultivate healthy and clean life behavior.

Since the discovery of cases of chickens died suddenly three weeks ago, there were six residents who stated suspect bird flu. However, the results of last inspection states, four were negative and two more bird flu tested positive for swine flu.

Pontianak City Health Office, said the two patients who tested positive for swine flu is now recovered and is back home. http://www.antaranews.com/berita/127...za-a-bermutasi

Pontianak, West Kalimantan ::: Official doubts influenza virus is replicable in Pontianak

Pontianak – Influenza A virus like H5N1 and H1N1 subtypes assumed to have mutated to a replicable state in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, which has temperature about 30 centigrade, said Head of Health Service of Pontianak, Multi Juto Bhatarendo. Multi said any virus naturally could not survive at such temperature.

“Bird flu, swine flu or SARS viruses will emerge during rainy season on December to April, and usually occur in cold countries,” he said. Furthermore, he doubted if Pontianak, a city that passed by equator with adequate sunshine, could be a place for influenza virus replication. “It means there is gene mutation or high rate mobilization of the virus,” he added.

Multi also mentioned the development of virus replication is related to the vector and surrounding environment.

Since the finding of sudden death in chickens three weeks ago,six people were reported as bird flu suspects. Latest examination showed they were tested negative bird flu, and two were tested positive swine flu (pandemic H1N1 2009 flu).

                      Comment:

Untill now we did not get many reports about bird flu in poultry from Kalimantan. The authorities were surprised after the recent outbreak. Especially in this time of the year. May be the virus adapted itself ("mutated") to higher temperatures, they suggest.

It strikes me we often see similiar reactions from authorities and other stakeholders in case of an outbreak of a new disease, new in a certain region, or country.

After such events often we hear about "mutations" , "a more virulent strain" , etc. etc. Not only in Indonesia, but worldwide. Without any evidence, without sequences, etc.

Recently in the Netherlands some microbiologists said the same thing ("may be a more virulent strain") regarding the Q-fever outbreak in the Netherlands.

We cannot exclude the possibility of a more virulent strain of course. However it seems to me is doesn't help to make such statements without a shred of evidence.

The avian influenza virus was found in Egypt in the summer, it can be (very) hot there too. Also in other countries bird flu popped up in the hot season.

It may be a psychological thing, a way to cope with the new situation? And a way to say: we could not help it - force majeure - it was beyond our responsibility ?
