Sampit, Central Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Public Health (health office) East Kotawaringin (Kotim) Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan), to tighten controls in order to anticipate the spread of the H5N1 virus or bird flu.
"In the near future, Kotim health office will hold a meeting with all the medical personnel who served in the Public Health Service Center (Puskesmas) a Kotim, burng discuss flu," said Chief Dinkes Kotim, Yuendri Irawanto, in Sampit, Sunday.
He said, the meeting was also related to the H5N1 virus has been found in districts Central Kalimantan, the District of Kuala Kapuas, Pulang Knives and Palangkaraya City.
Until now it was not received or there is a report from the health center or hospital to the citizens of the H5N1 virus or characteristics similar to the disease, cascade control yet still needs to be done.
According to Yuendri, prior to the meeting, to all health centers in Kotim expected to deliver citizen health reports, it was to ensure that residents Kotim no H5N1 virus.
We will continue to monitor the level of public health in order to Kotim safe from the H5N1 virus, although Kotim still relatively safe and no reported cases of bird flu but should be wary.
"The availability of drugs in Kotim is still insufficient and if the H5N1 virus has actually happened in Kotim, then the amount of the drug should be added, for not having said enough is used," he said.
Kotim residents are expected to always behave in a healthy life both in and outside the home, and health and memeriksaan always wash their hands after each work, especially when it comes to eating.
Yuendri revealed, the public is also expected to play an active role in the response to the spread of bird flu that is immediately reported to the relevant personnel when cattle poultry found dead of a sudden.
"People are also expected to check into the hospital or the nearest health center when experiencing a fever with a high body heat, similar to the characteristics of bird flu," explained Yuendri.
Without the participation and public awareness, prevention H5N1 virus will not be a way in accordance with government expectations. (*)
