    One dies of swine flu

    A 55-year-old man from Ranga Reddy district has died due to complications from swine flu in a corporate hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday. So far, the total number of deaths due to swine flu in Telangana is at 10, while the number of positive cases since January has reached 217.

      According to Dr G Venkate?swarlu, Superintendent, Gandhi Hospital, 28-year-old Lavanya, who was suffering from pneumonia and was put on ventilator in the Swine Flu ward, died on Thursday morning around 10.30 am while on treatment. Lavanya died of respiratory failure, he said. According to official data from the Health department, across the Telangana from August 1 to October 15, as many as 1,779 samples had been tested, out of which 318 were found to be positive and seven deaths were reported with other complications and swine flu.

      • Pregnant woman from Yadgir dies of suspected H1N1 in Hyderabad

        A 31-year-old woman in advanced stage of pregnancy, hailing from Tinthani village in Surpur taluk in Yadgir district, died at KIMS hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday due to suspected H1 N1, according to District Health Officer Amaresh Koiluru.
        The deceased has been identified as Godhavari Gangadharaswamy Gudi. According to Dr. Koiluru, she was suffering from severe fever, cough, cold and breathlessness since October 21. She was at her parent?s place at Gurgunta in Lingasugur taluk in Raichur district for delivery.
        Initially, she was given treatment at private hospitals in Lingsugur town and Raichur before admitting her in the hospital at Hyderabad on October 23. However, the patient failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last on October 27.
        Mr. Koiluru also said that he would confirm whether she died due to H1 N1 after getting the medical reports from Hyderabad.
        A team of doctors from Surpur and Yadgir are being sent to Tinthini to take precautionary measures.

          A woman succumbed to swine flu, taking the number of deaths due to H1N1 virus and related complications to 10 in Telangana this season, a senior official said today.

          The woman, who was admitted here in a critical condition, died yesterday, swine flu coordinator at the state-run Gandhi hospital Dr K Narasimhulu said today.

            Hyderabad: Two women who had given birth recently were among the four persons who succumbed to swine flu in the city on Thursday, taking the total number of deaths to 14 since August 1.

            Officials said 21-year-old woman who had delivered a baby 10 days ago succumbed to swine flu at Gandhi Hospital early on Thursday morning. At Kushaiguda, a 23-year-old new mother succumbed to swine flu.

            A woman from Nalgonda, who was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital, died of the infection while a two-year old girl from Addagutta died in a private hospital in the city.

            Earlier in the day, angry relatives of the 21-year-old woman staged a protest outside Gandhi Hospital as the woman had been on ventilator support for the last nine days and her situation hadn?t improved. The relatives had shifted her from Aware Global Hospitals to Gandhi Hospital but her condition was very critical and she died.

                HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident, a staff nurse at Perur primary health centre (PHC) in Mahbubnagar district, K Suvarna, 30, died while undergoing treatment for swine flu at a corporate hospital in Secunderabad on Monday.

                        Pregnant woman dies of swine flu

                        Pregnant women, who tested positive for swine flu, continue to remain highly prone to fatalities in Hyderabad.

                        On Monday, the health authorities said that a 20-year-old pregnant woman from Mahabubnagar died at Gandhi Hospital due to complications from swine flu. Since this August, 19 people have died due to swine flu.

                              599 swine flu cases reported in State
                              Three fresh cases of swine flu have been reported on Tuesday taking the total number of positive cases in the State over the past five months to 599.

                              As many as 4,520 samples were screened for H1N1 virus and out of them 599 were found positive, as on Tuesday. The bulletin issued by the principal secretary of Health, Medical and Family Welfare on Tuesday put the number of deaths in the past couple of months at 21.
